Call for Posters: 2026 Annual Conference

Advancing Preservation Education: Communities, Technologies, and Futures

The National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE) is accepting abstracts for student posters to be presented at its annual conference, taking place on September 25, 2026 in College Park, MD.  The posters will be on display throughout the conference, with time devoted for students to present and discuss their work with conference attendees.  As preservation is an inherently multidisciplinary field, the content of the posters may vary widely.  Students are invited to submit posters that address, but are not limited to, the following topics:

  • History of the Built and Cultural Environment
  • Digital and Technological Innovation
  • Community Engagement
  • Global Perspectives
  • Sustainability and Ethics
  • Preservation Economics

Five students will be selected for $500 scholarships based on the strength of their submitted abstracts.  Winners will be notified along with their notice of acceptance or rejection.  Scholarships will be awarded after the posters are presented at the conference.

Abstracts should be submitted to Dr. Douglas Appler at douglas.appler@uky.edu

The deadline for abstract submission is August 7.

Students will be notified of acceptance or rejection by August 15.

Students are expected to bring their posters printed on 24×36 paper to the conference on September 25.

Abstract Content:

Your abstract submission should be no more than 300 words.  It should introduce the central theme of your research, identify your research question, explain your research methodology, introduce your findings, and explain the significance of your findings.  Successful abstracts will cite between three and five sources to help situate the work in the broader literature.
