The editors of Preservation Education & Research invite paper proposals for the journal. Papers on all topics related to preservation education, research, and scholarship are considered. The annual deadline for submission of papers is February 1. Papers will be blind reviewed and authors notified of publication. Manuscript Submission Guidelines ONLY ORIGINAL WORK NEITHER PUBLISHED NOR UNDER REVIEW ELSEWHERE WILL BE CONSIDERED (authors will be required to sign and resubmit a form to this effect). Please submit your manuscript in an electronic format. This should be either via e-mail attachment as MS Word document or PDF to Anat Geva or Nancy Volkman at PERjournal@gmail.com or as a MS Word document on a CD-R sent by regular mail to the address below. In addition, two hard copies of the manuscript should be sent directly to the editors of this journal. Address for submissions is: Deadline is on or before February 1 of any given year.
Gender References Please use gender-neutral references to the greatest extent possible. Heads and Subheads Please divide your article by using heads and subheads. Do not title the first section “Introduction”, and use a more specific head than “Summary” or “Conclusion” for the final section.
Paragraphs
References and Citation Please follow the Chicago Manual of Style author-date system for notations in the text, endnotes, and reference list. Use initial caps for all titles. For a full set of citation examples for almost all circumstances see the Chicago Manual of style website at: There the last example under each type of citation, indicated with a “R” is the author-date system example Citation in the text (paper) would be simply (Smith 1999), or (Smith 1999, 20) for a quote, or (Smith 1999a) if this author had more than one publication cited in the reference list (please note no commas between author and year) References in the list of references ((not in endnotes), should appear after the endnotes. Copyrights Contributors must obtain a copy of owner's permission to reproduce any non-original illustrations, and submit it once the paper is accepted for publication. Please note, the author pays the required fees for permission to reproduce illustrations. Punctuation, Capitalization, Numbers Please enclose all punctuation (except semicolons) inside quotation marks
Quotations Direct quotations of five lines or more should be typed as a separate paragraph with no initial indentation and no quotation marks with a blank line space before and after. Endnotes
Book Reviews The journal’s Book Review editor, Catherine W. Zipf solicits book reviews. Text of reviews should conform to the requirements for articles. Titles of reviews should include: book's author, title, place of publication, publisher, date, number of pages and of illustrations, and price. Acceptance of articles (a) Following a blind peer-review process, the editors notify the authors on the status of the papers (accept as is; accept with minor revisions; accept with major revisions; reject). (b) The editors send the accepted papers in their final version (after revisions, etc) to the copy editor for English editing. (c) Authors are asked to change/correct according to the copy editor’s comments. NO changes or editorial arrangements other than indicated by the copy editor will be accepted at this point. (d) The editors send the corrected papers to the graphic designer (e) Authors are asked to approve the final PDF of their papers before sending them to the printer (d) Authors are getting 2 copies of the journal and the PDF of the print of their papers Queries Address all editorial queries and submission to the editors Anat Geva or Nancy Volkman at PERjournal@gmail.com. Mission: As part of the NCPE 25th anniversary we proposed to launch a new scholarly journal dedicated to preservation research and education. This journal follows NCPE main mission that is to exchange and disseminate information and ideas concerning preservation education. Furthermore, with this initiative the journal, which will include articles on current developments and innovations in preservation, caters to additional goal of NCPE -- the improvement of historic preservation education programs and endeavors in the United States and elsewhere.
